When the pandemic hit, our traveling agency suffered from severe income loss, the whole operation fell into a slump. The environment was depressing, so I wrote encouraging notes and illustrations to cheer them up every now and then. This gesture was well-received, so after discussing with my supervisor, we decided to expand this project. We hope to spread warmth throughout the whole company.

Introduction

Background

When the pandemic hit, our traveling agency suffered from severe income loss, the whole operation fell into a slump. The environment was depressing, so I wrote encouraging notes and illustrations to cheer them up every now and then. This gesture was well-received, so after discussing with my supervisor, we decided to expand this project. We hope to spread warmth throughout the whole company.

How might we?

We convened the company members and created a short periodical together. The project included interviewing some members' stories, hoping that everyone can share the difficulties during this trying time. Most important thing being that we have attached a heart-warming illustration to every issue, which provide just the right amount of encouragement whenever they see it.

Approach

During the outbreak and border closures, some of our colleagues lost their jobs; however, we didn't want to furlough them without pay, so we analyzed to see what we could do to get through this together. The results reveal the strengths and interests of the dismissed, and translate into opportunities for them to develop and practice in the next step.

Our team

We have organized the chief editor, editorial team, planning team, marketing team, public relations team, photographers, post-production staff, visual designers, etc., several different positions, and meet every Wednesday to discuss the theme of the next week and related series of reports.

Little People BIG DREAMS

We interview employees within the company every week. During the epidemic, many people changed their original responsibility. The company opened many opportunities for different areas, giving them to explore. The potential of employees can also be seen during the interview.

For example, Mr. Lin, who was originally the general manager of the management department, tried to serve as the central kitchen staff of our company's food department. As well as Mr. Pei, who was originally a member of the company's board of directors, launched a farming training course. There is also Ms. Huang, who was originally an HR in the marketing department and has transformed into a planner for the merchandise department.

Through these stories, the relationship between employees is also closer.
